Privacy Policy for Baby Log & Tracker

Last updated: February 28, 2025

Introduction

Baby Log & Tracker ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our iOS and Apple Watch application (the "App").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Summary

  • Your baby and journal data (names, entries, photos, milestones, etc.) are stored only on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to this data.
  • The free version of the App shows ads provided by Google (AdMob). Google may collect data for ad serving; see the Advertising section below.
  • Premium subscribers and trial users do not see ads.
  • In-app purchases are processed by Apple (StoreKit); we do not process or store payment details.
  • Apple Watch: Journal data is synced between your iPhone and your Watch using Apple's systems (App Group and WatchConnectivity); it stays on your devices only.

Information You Store in the App (Local Only)

The App lets you store and manage information about your baby and your parenting journey. All of this information stays on your device (and, if you use the Apple Watch app, in the shared container between your iPhone and Watch). We do not upload it to any server or have access to it.

This may include:

  • Baby information: Name, gender, birth date, due date, season
  • Journal entries: Feeding, nursing, pumping, sleep, diaper changes, bathing, baby food, growth, vaccination, temperature, and similar logs
  • Milestones: Developmental milestones with optional photos and notes
  • Calendar events: Appointments and suggested events (e.g. well-child visits)
  • Checklist: Baby-prep checklist items and completion status
  • Gallery: Photos you take or select and add to the App's gallery (stored on device / in app container)
  • Statistics: Derived from your journal entries and shown only to you in the App
  • Doctor Report: PDF export of recent journal data, generated on your device for your use (e.g. with a pediatrician)

We do not collect, transmit, or analyze this content. It is used only to provide the App's features to you on your device(s).

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not operate servers that collect your baby information, journal entries, photos, or usage patterns. We do not use our own analytics to track how you use the App. Your journal and family data never leave your device in a way that we receive or control.

Advertising (Free Version Only)

The free version of the App shows advertising provided by Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). This includes:

  • Banner ads on the main screen
  • Interstitial ads (e.g. in the "Remove ads for today" flow)
  • Rewarded ads (optional; e.g. to unlock "ad-free for today")

Who sees ads: Only users who are not subscribed and not in a trial see ads. Premium subscribers and users who have unlocked "ad-free for today" (or similar) may not see ads during that period.

Data and advertising: When ads are shown, Google may collect and use data (such as device identifiers and ad interaction) to serve and measure ads, in accordance with Google's own privacy policy. We do not control what data Google collects. You can learn more and manage ad personalization here:

We do not sell your baby or journal data to advertisers. The only data shared with ad providers is what the ad SDK (Google) collects when ads are displayed, as described in Google's policies.

Third-Party Services

Apple (StoreKit)

The App uses Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases (subscription and lifetime purchase). When you make a purchase:

  • Payment is processed by Apple; we do not see or store your payment details.
  • Apple may collect information in accordance with its Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/privacy/

Google (Advertising)

As described above, the free version uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). Google's privacy policy applies to data collected in connection with ads: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Apple Watch and App Group

If you use the Apple Watch app, journal and related data are shared between your iPhone and your Watch using:

  • App Group storage (shared container on your devices)
  • WatchConnectivity (Apple's framework)

This sync is only between your own devices. We do not receive or store this data.

Data Storage and Security

Where your data lives

  • Journal, milestones, checklist, calendar, baby info, preferences: Stored locally using iOS UserDefaults and, where needed for Watch sync, the App Group container.
  • Gallery photos: Stored in the App's container and/or referenced from your photo library, depending on how you add them. The App only accesses photos you explicitly choose.
  • No account required: You do not sign in to our servers. There is no cloud account that we operate for your journal or baby data.

Security

  • Data is stored on your device and is protected by your device's security (e.g. passcode, Face ID, Touch ID).
  • iOS provides encryption at rest for app data. We do not transmit your journal or baby data to our own servers.

Permissions

The App may request the following permissions. Each is used only for the purpose described.

Permission Purpose
Camera To take photos of your baby inside the App (e.g. for gallery or milestones).
Photo Library To choose existing photos to add to the App's gallery or milestones.
Notifications To send local notifications (e.g. sleep timer start/stop, reminders).
Live Activities To show the sleep timer on the Lock Screen / Dynamic Island when a sleep session is active.

You can change these permissions at any time in Settings → Baby Log & Tracker (or Settings → Privacy).

Data Retention and Deletion

  • Retention: Your data remains on your device for as long as you keep the App installed and do not delete it.
  • Deletion:
    • You can delete individual items (entries, photos, milestones, etc.) from within the App.
    • Uninstalling the App removes all data stored by the App on that device.
    • If you use the Watch app, uninstalling either app may leave data on the other device until you remove it or uninstall there as well.
  • Backup: We recommend using iCloud or your usual device backup if you want to preserve your data. We do not provide a separate cloud backup service.

Once data is deleted, it cannot be recovered by us.

Children's Privacy

The App is intended for parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. All data in the App is entered by you (the user).

Your Rights and Choices

  • Access: You can view and manage all your data inside the App.
  • Correct: You can edit or delete entries, milestones, and other content at any time.
  • Delete: You can delete items in the App or remove all data by uninstalling the App.
  • Permissions: You can revoke camera, photos, notifications, and Live Activities in iOS Settings.
  • Ads: To avoid ads, you can subscribe to premium or use the optional "ad-free for today" (rewarded ads) when available. Google's ad controls apply to data used for ad personalization.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate changes by updating the Last Updated date at the top and, where appropriate, by making the updated policy available in the App or on our website. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

International Users

If you use the App outside the United States, your data is still stored locally on your device (and, for Watch, between your devices). Local laws in your country may give you additional rights; we respect applicable data protection laws.
