Electricalcodemeister ("the App") is an electrician exam preparation app that helps you study for NEC (National Electrical Code) exams with practice questions, mock exams, and reference material. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information Stored on Your Device
The App stores the following data only on your device (using iOS UserDefaults). This data is not sent to our servers and we do not have access to it:
- Onboarding status — Whether you have completed the initial onboarding flow
- Study progress — Practice and mock exam progress (e.g., questions answered, scores)
- Statistics — Exam attempt count, best score, total correct/incorrect answers, and category-level performance
- Wrong-answer list — Question IDs you answered incorrectly (used for the "Study wrong answers" feature)
- Bookmarks — Question IDs you have bookmarked for later review
This information is used solely to provide app features (stats, progress, study filters) and to remember your preferences.
1.2 Information We Do Not Collect
- The App does not require an account or sign-in
- We do not collect your name, email, or any other personal identification
- We do not collect or store your practice answers or exam responses on any server
2. Third-Party Services: Advertising
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements (including banner and full-screen interstitial ads). When you use the App, Google may collect certain information in accordance with its own privacy policy, such as:
- Device identifiers (e.g., advertising ID)
- General device and app usage data
- IP address

3. How We Use Information
- On-device data — Used only to run the App (e.g., showing your stats, resuming practice, filtering by wrong answers). We do not transmit this data off your device.
- Ad-related data — Handled by Google AdMob as described above. We do not receive or store your personal data from AdMob for our own use.
4. Data Retention and Your Choices
- On-device data — Stored until you delete the App or use the in-app option to reset all progress (if available). Deleting the App removes all locally stored data.
- Ad data — Subject to Google's retention and privacy practices; see the links in Section 2.
5. Data Security
Data stored by the App is kept only on your device in the app's sandbox. We do not operate servers that store your study or usage data. You are responsible for keeping your device secure (e.g., using a passcode or biometric lock).
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we may notify you in the App or via the App Store listing.
