Privacy Policy for Life in the UK: 2026 Edition
Last updated: March 2026
This privacy policy describes how the Life in the UK app (“the App”) handles information when you use it on your iOS device. It also explains how we use App Tracking Transparency (ATT)—Apple’s system that asks for your permission before the App or its ad partners can track you for personalized advertising.
1. Who we are
The App is a study aid for the Life in the UK test. It provides practice questions, mock tests, and a history timeline ordering exercise. This policy explains what data the App uses and how it is stored or shared.
2. Data we collect and use
2.1 Data stored on your device
The App stores the following only on your device (using Apple’s SwiftData / local storage):
- Question bank: The set of practice and timeline questions, loaded from the App’s built‑in content (e.g. from
Questions.json). - Your preferences: Which questions you have bookmarked for later review. This is stored locally and is not sent to any server or third party.
Mock test answers and scores are used only during the current session and are not saved permanently. The App does not create an account or collect your name, email, or any other personal identifiers.
2.2 Data we do not collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Name, email, or contact details
- Account or login information
- Precise location
- Any data that directly identifies you
3. Third‑party services: advertising
The App uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to show banner and full‑screen (interstitial) ads. This is the only third‑party service that may process data in connection with the App.
- App Tracking Transparency (ATT): On iOS, Apple requires apps to ask for your permission before tracking you for advertising. The App will show Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt, asking whether you allow tracking. If you allow it, AdMob may use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) to serve personalized ads. If you decline or do not grant permission, we will only request non‑personalized ads from AdMob (no use of IDFA for targeting). Non‑personalized ads are still shown but are not tailored to your interests.
- What AdMob may collect: Google may collect and use data such as advertising identifiers (e.g. IDFA, when you have consented), device type, OS version, and general usage data to deliver and measure ads. This is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s EU User Consent Policy (where applicable).
- Our role: We do not pass your name, email, or other personal data to AdMob. Any data collection is performed by Google’s SDK according to their policies. We request the ATT prompt before using tracking for personalized ads, in line with Apple’s requirements.
You can change your choice later or control ad personalisation in your device settings (e.g. Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking or Apple Advertising on iOS).
4. How long we keep data
- On your device: Bookmark data and other local content stay on your device until you delete the App or clear its data. We do not have access to this data.
- Advertising: Retention of data collected by AdMob is determined by Google’s policies.
5. Your rights and choices
- Local data: To remove all data stored by the App, delete the App from your device. This removes the question database and your bookmarks.
- Ads: You can limit ad tracking or reset your advertising identifier in your iOS settings. You can also review Google’s privacy and ad settings for how they use data.
If you are in the UK, EU, or EEA, you may have additional rights (e.g. access, correction, deletion, objection) under applicable data protection law. Because we do not collect or process your personal data on our own systems, the main way to “delete” your data is to delete the App and to use your device and Google settings for ad-related data.
6. Children
The App is intended for general use by people preparing for the Life in the UK test. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the App, please contact us and we will address it in line with applicable law.
7. Security
Data stored by the App is kept only on your device and is protected by your device’s normal security (e.g. passcode, biometrics). We do not transmit your bookmarks or progress to our servers.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy. For significant changes, we may notify you in the App or via the App Store listing where appropriate.
9. Contact
If you have questions about this privacy policy or the App’s handling of data, please contact us at the support or contact details provided in the App or on the App Store page for Life in the UK: 2026 Edition.
