This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application Ireland Road Signs Study Quiz ("the App") handles information.
1. What the App does
The App is an educational tool for learning and practising Irish road signs. It includes a browsable sign catalog, a study hub with local progress summaries, and quiz modes including practice, category drills, and exam-style sessions.
The App is not a government service, not affiliated with the Road Safety Authority (RSA), and not legal or professional driving advice.
Some of the App's texts, questions, explanations, translations, images, or other materials may have been generated or prepared with the help of artificial-intelligence (AI) tools. During normal use, the App does not send your local study statistics to AI providers.
2. What information is processed
No account is required. We do not ask for your name, phone number, postal address, or login details to use the App, and we do not operate our own servers to store your quiz progress.
Depending on your device and platform, the App may process:
- Local study and preference data, including completion of onboarding and legal acceptance, question identifiers, sign categories, correct and incorrect answer counts, mastery scores, streaks, best streaks, weekly progress, weekly goals, streak freezes, review queues, and dates used for study progress. These values stay on your device, for example in iOS UserDefaults or Android SharedPreferences.
- Device and app information from the operating system or advertising software, such as device type, OS version, app version, language, general region or network-related signals, diagnostics, and ad-related context.
- Advertising identifiers, ad interactions, and consent choices when ads are enabled and your settings allow them, including signals collected for regulatory consent flows.
If you email us for support, we receive whatever you choose to send, such as your email address and message content.
3. How we use information
We use this information to:
- run study, catalog, and quiz features;
- keep progress and preferences on your device between sessions;
- show ads, measure ad performance, and help prevent ad fraud or abuse;
- manage consent and privacy choices where required;
- meet legal requirements and respond to support requests.
We do not use a separate first-party analytics product to track you across other companies' apps or websites. Ad-related data processing is described below.
4. Local storage
Study data is stored only on your device so it persists between sessions. Uninstalling the App or clearing app data removes it, subject to how your device handles backups.
Depending on your settings, data may be included in device or cloud backups (for example Apple iCloud backup or Android backup), which are controlled by your platform account and device settings.
5. Ads, mediation, consent, and third parties
The App is ad-supported. When ads are enabled and consent permits, the App may show native ads and full-screen interstitial ads through Google AdMob. The AdMob mediation setup may also route ad requests to bidding partners such as Unity Ads and Meta Audience Network.
Ad providers and mediation partners may process data such as device identifiers, advertising identifiers, approximate location derived from IP address, app activity related to ads, diagnostics, ad interaction data, fraud-prevention signals, and consent status under their own policies.
After you complete the in-app onboarding and accept these documents, the App may show additional consent or permission prompts before ads load:
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP): On iOS and Android, where required, Google UMP may present a form so you can manage ad and data-use choices required for GDPR, UK GDPR, ePrivacy, US state privacy laws, or similar rules. Ads are only requested after UMP indicates that ads may be requested under your choices, or when consent is not required in your region. If your choices mean ads cannot be requested, the App remains usable but advertisements may not load.
- App Tracking Transparency (ATT): On iOS only, Apple ATT may ask whether the App may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites for advertising or measurement. Your choice affects whether personalised or cross-app advertising features can be used as permitted by Apple and your settings.

6. Sharing
We do not sell personal information in the ordinary sense of exchanging it for money. Some privacy laws define ad-related "sale", "sharing", or targeted advertising broadly; where required, use the consent, privacy, and device settings described above to manage those choices.
We may share limited data with service providers, advertising providers, mediation partners, platform providers, or authorities where needed to operate the App, show ads, comply with law, or protect rights.
7. Retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it, reset the device, uninstall the App, or the system clears it. Third parties such as Google, Unity, Meta, Apple, or Google Play services retain data under their own policies.
8. Your choices
You can:
- tap Manage ad consent on the Study hub when shown to reopen Google UMP privacy options;
- use iOS or Android settings for ads personalisation, tracking, privacy, and advertising identifiers;
- use Google account or device-level ad settings where available;
- clear app data or uninstall the App to remove locally stored progress and stop new ad requests from the App.
9. Children
The App is aimed at a general audience learning to drive or refreshing road-sign knowledge. It is not directed at young children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please contact us.
10. International processing
Providers such as Google, Unity, Meta, Apple, or Google Play services may process data on servers outside your country under their terms and legal transfer mechanisms.
11. Policy changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The updated version applies when we publish it or make it available through the App or our distribution pages. If a change requires renewed acceptance, the App may ask you to review and accept the updated documents before continuing.
