Privacy Policy for USA National Boater Exam
Effective April 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how USA National Boater Exam handles information when you use the iOS app.
1. Information You Provide
The app does not require you to create an account. If you contact us for support through the App Store or another support channel, you may choose to provide information such as your name, email address, device details, screenshots, or the content of your message. We use that information to respond to you and support the app.
2. Study Progress Stored on Your Device
The app stores study progress, selected jurisdiction, active sessions, completed sessions, readiness signals, and similar learning data on your device using local app storage. This information helps the app personalize your study experience. Unless a future version clearly adds sync or account features, this study progress is not sent to our servers by the app.
3. Ads, Tracking, and Device Information
The app may use Google AdMob or similar advertising services to show ads. These services may collect or receive device identifiers, advertising identifiers, approximate location inferred from network information, app interaction data, ad impressions, crash or diagnostic data, and other information described in their own policies. On iOS, tracking for personalized advertising is subject to Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt where required. You can manage tracking permission in iOS Settings.
4. Automatically Collected Diagnostics
Apple, Google, and other platform or service providers may provide crash reports, performance data, analytics, or diagnostics to help identify bugs and improve reliability. The exact information available depends on your device settings, iOS version, and the third-party services active in the app.
5. How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate the app, save your study state, provide study recommendations, display and measure ads, troubleshoot problems, improve app quality, prevent misuse, comply with legal obligations, and respond to support requests.
6. Sharing of Information
We may share information with service providers that help operate the app, such as advertising, analytics, diagnostics, hosting, and support providers. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets. We do not sell your local study progress.
7. Third-Party Privacy Practices
Third-party services used by the app may process information under their own privacy policies. For Google advertising services, review Google's privacy policy and Google's advertising technologies. For Apple platform data, review Apple's privacy information and your device settings.
8. Your Choices
You can reset or remove local study data by deleting the app from your device. You can manage ad tracking permission in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking, and you can manage Apple analytics and advertising choices in iOS Settings. If you contact support, you can ask us to delete or update information you provided, subject to legal and operational limits.
9. Children's Privacy
The app is intended for users who are old enough to study for boating safety requirements in their jurisdiction. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information through a support channel, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Data Security
We use reasonable measures designed to protect information associated with the app. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International Use
If you use the app outside the United States, information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have privacy laws different from those in your location.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted in the app with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after changes become effective means you acknowledge the updated Policy.
13. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact the app developer through the support channel listed on the app's App Store product page.
This privacy policy applies to the USA National Boater Exam app on iOS.
